LifeSize Collaborates on LG Executive
LifeSize Communications has contributed its video conferencing expertise to the development of the LG Executive conferencing system.
LifeSize Communications has contributed its video conferencing know-how to the development of the newly announced LG Executive conferencing system.
The sleek system contains LifeSize's high-definition video conferencing technology, with a 24-inch display supporting a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, integrated microphone array and speakers, and a 720p camera.
Craig Malloy, chief executive officer of LifeSize Communications, says: "As more people recognise the value of video communications to improve collaboration and productivity, audio conference calls are becoming a thing of the past."
The LG Executive system aims to integrate effectively into day-to-day operations, with one-touch switching between video conferencing and its use as a computer monitor and just two cables to connect in order to begin operations.
It is this combination of LifeSize conferencing technology and LG's electronics expertise in the monitor itself that leads LifeSize Communications to call their product "a video conferencing solution that is smart, simple and streamlined".

Riverbed Launches RiOS 6.1
Riverbed Technology has introduced Riverbed Optimization System 6.1, the latest incarnation of its optimisation systems.
Riverbed Technology has introduced Riverbed Optimization System 6.1 (RiOS 6.1), the latest incarnation of its optimisation system allowing IT leaders to directly address the way that their networks handle some of their most mission-critical traffic.
Apurva Dave, Vice-President of Product Marketing at Riverbed, says: "As organisations continue to consolidate IT environments and explore cloud computing, they face performance challenges in connecting users over the wide-area network."
With fluency at both network-level and on a per application basis, Riverbed's acceleration products promise enhanced performance for remote users connecting to business-critical processes.
For SharePoint users, specific optimisation capabilities include the removal of round-trip information requests associated with authentication, raising the overall response rate and reducing latency by 50 per cent more than in previous versions of RiOS.
In disaster recovery environments, RiOS 6.1 can also facilitate data compression of up to 30:1 for storage purposes, accelerate the recovery of files and also increase replication rates, helping to keep valuable information available..

| Hitachi Data Systems Unveils IT Operations Analyzer 2.0
IT Operations Analyzer 2.0 is HDS's latest performance monitoring software.
IT Operations Analyzer 2.0, the latest incarnation of Hitachi Data Systems' (HDS) performance monitoring software, has been officially announced by the vendor.
Vice-president of software products for global solutions and strategy development Sean Moser says that the company's goal is "to provide uncomplicated, thorough monitoring capabilities for a broad set of heterogeneous IT equipment".
With IT Operations Analyzer 2.0, HDS achieves this by allowing medium-sized enterprises to track the performance of their IT infrastructure with relative simplicity.
"Organisations of all sizes now depend heavily on their IT facilities to get work done quickly and efficiently," adds Mr Moser.
A particular benefit of the software is its ability to diagnose issues quickly should they arise, allowing the network to be restored to a functional state and minimising the negative impacts of the outage.
From a single, central point of access, IT Operations Analyzer 2.0 allows assets across the network to be viewed and maintained, comprising storage devices, storage area networks, local area networks and servers.

Isilon Scale-out NAS Powers 3D at IE Effects
Scale-out network-attached storage from Isilon is deployed at IE Effects graphic studio to meet their 3D imaging demands.
Graphics studio IE Effects is catering for its three-dimensional imaging demands with scale-out network-attached storage (NAS) from Isilon Systems.
The company's work spans television, film and theme parks, with contracts for brands ranging from Disney to Honda; however, when working in three dimensions its storage demands double and data performance must be raised to meet deadlines.
David Kenneth, executive producer for IE Effects, says: "Until Isilon, we hadn't seen a storage system capable of delivering the concurrent throughput and ease of management needed."
However, the company is now able to devote additional bandwidth to its new business projects, collaborate on three-dimensional graphics from different geographical locations and achieve previously impossible rates of expansion.
Scale-out NAS from Isilon Systems also enhances utilisation, reaching rates of more than 80 per cent compared with the traditional 50 per cent utilisation rates achieved by many NAS or storage area network devices in common usage.
